Author Guidelines

Bharati Darpan – Multidisciplinary International Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences and Science welcomes original and academically significant manuscripts from researchers, scholars, educators, professionals, practitioners, and postgraduate students working in the fields of humanities, social sciences, science, and interdisciplinary studies.

Authors are requested to follow the guidelines below before submitting a manuscript.

1. General Submission Requirements

Submitted manuscripts must:

  • Be original and not previously published;

  • Not be under consideration by another journal;

  • Fall within the aims and scope of the journal;

  • Present accurate, reliable, and ethically conducted research;

  • Be written in clear and professional English;

  • Follow the journal’s prescribed structure and referencing style;

  • Include all required author, affiliation, and correspondence details.

Submission of a manuscript confirms that all authors have approved the final version and agree to its consideration by the journal.

2. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following categories of scholarly work:

  • Original Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Conceptual Papers

  • Case Studies

  • Comparative Studies

  • Field-Based Research

  • Short Communications

  • Perspective Articles

  • Book Reviews

  • Research Notes

  • Interdisciplinary Studies

The editorial team may consider other relevant scholarly submissions that fall within the scope of the journal.

3. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared in an editable Microsoft Word format.

Recommended formatting requirements are:

  • Page Size: A4

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Font Size: 12 points

  • Line Spacing: 1.5

  • Alignment: Justified

  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides

  • Page Numbers: Included on all pages

  • File Format: DOC or DOCX

Headings and subheadings should be clearly organised and consistently formatted throughout the manuscript.

4. Title Page

The title page should include:

  • Complete title of the manuscript;

  • Full name of each author;

  • Academic designation;

  • Department and institutional affiliation;

  • City, state, and country;

  • Official email address;

  • ORCID ID, where available;

  • Corresponding author’s name and contact details.

The manuscript title should be clear, informative, and directly related to the subject of the research.

5. Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise summary of the manuscript, including:

  • Background or context of the study;

  • Main objective;

  • Research methodology;

  • Important findings;

  • Principal conclusion.

The abstract should normally contain approximately 150 to 300 words and should not include citations, tables, figures, or unexplained abbreviations.

6. Keywords

Authors should provide four to seven keywords below the abstract.

Keywords should accurately represent the central subject, methods, variables, or themes of the manuscript and should help improve the discoverability of the published article.

7. Recommended Manuscript Structure

Original research articles should generally follow this structure:

  1. Title

  2. Author Details

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Review of Literature

  7. Research Objectives

  8. Research Questions or Hypotheses, where applicable

  9. Research Methodology

  10. Results or Analysis

  11. Discussion

  12. Conclusion

  13. Recommendations, where relevant

  14. Limitations of the Study, where applicable

  15. References

The structure may be modified for review articles, conceptual papers, humanities-based studies, case studies, and discipline-specific research.

8. Tables

Tables should:

  • Be numbered consecutively;

  • Include a clear and descriptive title;

  • Be cited in the main text;

  • Present information in a concise and readable form;

  • Include the source below the table where necessary;

  • Avoid repeating information already explained in the text.

Authors should submit editable tables rather than tables inserted as images.

9. Figures, Graphs, and Illustrations

Figures, graphs, photographs, maps, and illustrations should:

  • Be clearly numbered;

  • Include appropriate captions;

  • Be referred to in the manuscript;

  • Be of sufficient resolution and quality;

  • Contain readable labels and legends;

  • Include source or copyright information where applicable.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted visual material.

10. Citations and References

Authors should use a consistent and internationally recognised citation style appropriate to their discipline.

APA style is recommended, particularly for manuscripts in education, psychology, social sciences, management, humanities, and interdisciplinary studies.

Every source cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every reference included in the reference list must be cited in the text.

Authors should ensure that:

  • References are accurate and complete;

  • Recent and relevant scholarly literature is included;

  • Retracted or unreliable sources are avoided;

  • DOI links are included where available;

  • Excessive self-citation is avoided;

  • Citations are not added for the purpose of manipulating citation counts.

11. Language and Writing Quality

The manuscript should be written in clear, grammatically correct, and academically appropriate language.

Authors are advised to:

  • Use concise and coherent sentences;

  • Avoid unsupported claims and informal expressions;

  • Define specialised terms and abbreviations;

  • Maintain consistency in spelling and terminology;

  • Carefully proofread the manuscript before submission.

The editorial team may return manuscripts requiring substantial language correction before peer review.

12. Originality and Plagiarism

All submissions must represent the original work of the authors.

The journal may screen manuscripts using plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts containing copied, improperly cited, fabricated, duplicated, or substantially overlapping content may be rejected.

Authors must properly acknowledge all ideas, words, data, images, and materials obtained from other sources.

13. Artificial Intelligence Tools

Authors must disclose any significant use of generative artificial intelligence tools in preparing, editing, translating, analysing, or presenting the manuscript.

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, originality, ethical compliance, or integrity of the work.

Authors remain fully responsible for:

  • Verifying all AI-assisted content;

  • Checking factual accuracy;

  • Confirming references and citations;

  • Protecting confidential or personal information;

  • Preventing plagiarism and misleading statements.

Undisclosed or inappropriate use of artificial intelligence may result in editorial action.

14. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, animals, vulnerable populations, or sensitive information must comply with applicable ethical and legal standards.

Where relevant, authors should provide:

  • Name of the approving ethics committee;

  • Approval or reference number;

  • Statement of informed consent;

  • Details of participant confidentiality;

  • Relevant institutional or legal permission.

The journal may request documentary evidence of ethical approval before publication.

15. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the manuscript.

All authors must:

  • Approve the submitted version;

  • Accept responsibility for their contribution;

  • Agree to the order of authorship;

  • Disclose relevant conflicts of interest;

  • Participate in responding to editorial queries where necessary.

Individuals who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria may be acknowledged separately.

16. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, academic, or personal interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.

Where no conflict exists, authors may include the following statement:

“The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript.”

17. Funding Disclosure

Authors should identify any financial support, grant, sponsorship, or institutional assistance received for conducting the research.

Where no funding was received, authors may state:

“The authors received no specific funding for this research.”

18. Acknowledgements

The acknowledgements section may recognise individuals, institutions, organisations, or technical contributors who supported the research but do not qualify for authorship.

Authors must obtain permission before naming individuals in the acknowledgements.

19. Data Accuracy and Availability

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, authenticity, and lawful use of all data included in the manuscript.

Where appropriate, authors should state whether the supporting data:

  • Are included in the article;

  • Are available in a recognised repository;

  • May be obtained from the corresponding author;

  • Cannot be shared due to ethical, legal, or confidentiality restrictions.

The journal may request access to supporting data where questions arise regarding the reliability of the research.

20. Copyrighted Material

Authors must obtain written permission before using copyrighted content such as:

  • Previously published figures;

  • Photographs;

  • Maps;

  • Questionnaires;

  • Large extracts of text;

  • Tables;

  • Illustrations;

  • Translated protected content.

The source and permission details must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.

21. Peer-Review Process

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are considered under the journal’s double-blind peer-review process.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer and editorial comments. Revised submissions should include:

  • A clean revised manuscript;

  • A marked or highlighted version, where requested;

  • A point-by-point response to reviewer comments.

Failure to submit an adequate revision may result in rejection.

22. Editorial Decision

The possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept without revision;

  • Accept subject to minor revision;

  • Reconsider after major revision;

  • Reject with an invitation to resubmit;

  • Reject.

The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the authorised editorial representative.

23. Corrections After Acceptance

After acceptance, authors may receive a proof for final checking.

At the proof stage, authors should correct only:

  • Typographical errors;

  • Formatting errors;

  • Minor factual inaccuracies;

  • Author detail errors.

Major changes to the title, authorship, methodology, analysis, or conclusions will normally not be accepted without editorial approval.

24. Submission Checklist

Before submitting the manuscript, authors should confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original;

  • The manuscript is not under review elsewhere;

  • All authors have approved the submission;

  • Author names and affiliations are accurate;

  • The abstract and keywords are included;

  • Tables and figures are properly numbered;

  • All citations appear in the reference list;

  • All references are cited in the text;

  • Ethical approval details are included where applicable;

  • Conflicts of interest and funding are disclosed;

  • Permission has been obtained for copyrighted material;

  • The manuscript has been proofread;

  • The file is submitted in DOC or DOCX format.
